I started this drabble almost a year ago and just now finished it.

We stole our own hearts like bandits. Every inch of unrelenting guilt crept along our skin and found its way into those hearts that weren't rightfully ours. Nothing was ours. Those eyes that lit up like Christmas lights to the cadences of relief after a lifetime of hopeless romance were so foreign. Your careless disposition was always faintly transparent to the vulnerability your voice expressed. Your thoughts never quite aligned with the words that settled in your throat and slipped from your lips at the most inappropriate moments. Our hearts were stolen; this was love.
